Deal on SMS sacking

TRAFFIC controller John Eid had his day in court yesterday after claiming he was sacked via a mobile phone text message.
The NSW Industrial Relations Commission in Sydney ordered the employer, JNI Traffic Control, and Mr Eid to attempt a settlement in the unfair dismissal dispute.
Commissioner Elizabeth Bishop said the SMS message should not have been sent.
The two parties later reached a settlement, which they kept confidential.
