'Living without mobile phones can cause impotence'
24th October 2001, Ananova
Italian researchers have found depriving owners of their mobile phones can cause sexual problems.
Consumer association Codacons took mobiles off 300 volunteers for 15 days and studied their reactions.
Seven in 10 said they "could not live without the device", while a quarter said it knocked their confidence and led to sexual problems with partners.
Researchers say 25% reported "an overall lack of confidence due to the absence of an important communication device".
As many as 48 of the 300 volunteers in Ischia found themselves refusing any kind of sexual approach during the study, Il Nuovo website reports.
Most volunteers experienced effects of mobile phone absence between two and three days after starting the study.
Some of the other effects reported included loss of appetite and depression.
Only 30% of the volunteers claimed they felt no effect at all.
